Hungary put on red list by the EU due to the outstanding number of infections

In addition to the Netherlands, Iceland, and Denmark, Hungary has also been put on the red list by the European Union, as the number of new infections per 100,000 people has exceeded 120 in the last two weeks.
As the Hungarian news portal Portfolio reports, the most outstanding increase in the number of infections was experienced in the Netherlands, where 2,921 new infections have been found in the last 24 hours, as a result of which bars and restaurants now close at 10 pm. The weekend brought 80 new infected people to Iceland, which is outstanding due to the small population of the island. In Denmark, the number of cases is at a four-month high,
while in Hungary the number of daily cases is approaching 1,000, according to official data.

According to CNN, the complete list of red countries with the number of cases per 100,000 in the last two weeks include:
  • Spain (320),
  • Czech Republic (267),
  • France (235),
  • Luxembourg (189),
  • Belgium (171),
  • the Netherlands (171),
  • Ireland (128),
  • Denmark (128),
  • Hungary (127).

Based on the list, Hungary is ranked 9th in terms of the spread of the pandemic in Europe, which could be a guideline for EU Member States in taking restrictive measures.

  1. New infections are not important – how has the rate in deaths from Covid 19 done in these countries the past few weeks? When you report statistics on seasonal flu, nobody really cares about how many “cases” are reported – only the deaths. Be consistent.
